Job 32:6
And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, I am young, and ye are very old; wherefore I was afraid, and durst not shew you mine opinion. And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, I am young, and ye are very old; wherefore I was afraid, and durst not shew you mine opinion.
Elihu waited to speak because he was young and the others were very old, so he was afraid and held back his opinion. His fear in holding back came from respect for their age, since he was young in comparison with Job and his older companions. As a younger man addressing much older men he hesitated to give his view.
He then steps into the dispute between Job and his friends, believing his wisdom could correct Job, yet he follows much the same line as the others and receives no answer. The verse stands at the beginning of the instructive discourses of Elihu that occupy Job 32 to 36. It introduces his argument and reproof to Job in chapters 32 to 37. The book in which it stands teaches the reality of human suffering and the need to understand it in light of God's purposes. The verse has also been used simply as the subject of a publication on Elihu, with no further explanation or application given.
