Job 36:2

Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God’s behalf.

Job 36:2 belongs to Elihu's speech to Job, forming part of his argument and reproof. Elihu is a younger man who comes in after Job's dispute with his friends, supposing that his superior wisdom will set Job right, yet he follows much the same line as the others, and Job makes him no answer. The larger section holding Elihu's argument and reproof runs from chapters 32 through 37, with the continuing portion of his speech running from chapters 34 through 37. In this argument he labors to convince Job that Job is not great and that God is everything.

The verse opens Elihu's declaration that he still has more to speak on God's behalf. His discourse is admirable but does not seem to help Job much, and afterward the Lord Himself speaks to Job and reveals His goodness through His power and wisdom.
