He directeth it under the whole heaven, and his lightning unto the ends of the earth.
God directs thunder and lightning under the whole heaven unto the ends of the earth. In so directing them across the whole earth He displays His power and His rule over nature. His powerful voice sounds in the thunder, and His wondrous works are seen as He directs the lightning across the whole heaven to the ends of the earth. This belongs to Job's descriptions of God's infinite power, from whose power and wisdom His goodness is to be inferred. The lightning also pictures time speeding onward as the earth approaches its final hour.
