Job 37:7

He sealeth up the hand of every man; that all men may know his work.

Job 37:7 stands within the larger description in Job 37:5-24 of wondrous works in nature that display great power and majesty. That description makes greatness and power known and sets the limits of human understanding before Him.

In the surrounding verses snow, rain, and clouds are under His command and serve His purposes. They serve whether for correction, for care of the land, or in loving-kindness.

He seals up the hand of every man by stopping human activity and work. He does this so that all may recognize and know His work. That interruption of human activity is how He makes His own power and activity known.

In this connection people are warned to fear God. They are not to presume to treat as ordinary what He has declared sacred.
