Blue Glacier Ice Caveby emmanuel_higgins

Job 38:29

Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?

The chapter where the question about the womb of the ice and the begetting of the frost appears belongs to the Word's account of God's works in creation, affirming that God, and not nature itself nor humanity, is the Creator. It is one of God's questions concerning the mysteries of Jehovah revealed in nature, which men of the greatest intellect cannot understand and the most profound scholar cannot answer. The inquiry into the origin of ice and frost was not posed to be answered, but to call attention to the deep mysteries of God and to teach the limitation of human wisdom, since even in the surroundings of daily life there are many things beyond the comprehension of finite beings.

In both divine revelation and in nature God has given such mysteries to command faith, so that He is to be acknowledged as much from what He does not reveal of Himself as from what is open to limited comprehension. Skeptics refuse to believe in God because they cannot comprehend the infinite power by which He reveals Himself. Searching and inquiring and learning may continue forever, and yet there remains an infinity beyond.
