Job 39:18

What time she lifteth up herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider.

The sudden lifting of the ostrich on high, leaving horse and rider behind in contempt, is a set picture of a mystery in nature that finite minds cannot solve. Her strange power of swift elevation and defiance does not yield to human explanation, but stands as proof that created things operate by wisdom higher than man's. The natural world is therefore full of such unsearchable workings, where even a flightless bird can outstrip the noblest human strength and skill. In that contrast between weakness and triumph, God's works are shown to exceed all human measuring, calling for reverence rather than speculation.
