A Rearing War Horse and Wild Donkeys in the Desertby emmanuel_higgins

Job 39:25

He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.

The war horse scenting conflict from far away and exulting at the sound of trumpets belongs to a divine account of the natural world that confronts human beings with what they cannot explain. That account uses the instincts and powers of animals to turn the mind toward mysteries that lie beyond human comprehension. In doing so it rebukes speculative pride and establishes the limit of human wisdom before the works of God.
