Behemoth Drinks From the River Among Reedsby emmanuel_higgins

Job 40:15

Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.

Behemoth was made by God just as humanity was made by Him. Because humanity was made last, no person took any part in creating the world or anything that has the breath of life, and all must accept on the Word that humanity was created after the image of God and Christ. The verse stands among God's questions about nature, showing that the created world contains mysteries beyond human understanding. It directs attention to God's power and to the limits of human wisdom, calling for faith rather than assuming people can answer every question about creation.

The behemoth is the Romanist power and the opponents arrayed against Luther on his way to Worms. It is a huge devouring beast with jaws and teeth that threatens to burn alive and reduce to ashes those who stand for truth. Confessing Jesus Christ means entering the behemoth's jaws and breaking its teeth rather than turning back.

That confession goes through fire kindled all the way to heaven in the name of the Lord. That danger is to be faced without fear.
