Job 41:10

None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me?

It belongs among the questions God puts to man that no greatness of intellect and no depth of scholarship can answer. They were not posed to receive an answer, but to direct attention to the deep mysteries of God. Their purpose is to teach the limitation of human wisdom, for even in the surroundings of daily life there are many things that finite beings cannot comprehend.

It sets forth the infinite power by which God reveals Himself in nature, a power skeptics refuse to believe precisely because they cannot comprehend it. God is to be acknowledged as much from what He does not reveal of Himself as from what lies open to limited comprehension. In both divine revelation and in nature such mysteries are given to command faith, showing that men may be ever searching and ever inquiring and ever learning, and yet there remains an infinity beyond.
