Leviathan Rises Breathing Fire From the Seaby emmanuel_higgins

Job 41:26

The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold: the spear, the dart, nor the habergeon.

The verse belongs to the questions God asks Job about the mysteries He reveals in nature, mysteries that even persons of the greatest intellect cannot understand and that the most profound scholar cannot answer. Those questions were not given to be answered but to call attention to the deep mysteries of God. They were given to teach that human wisdom is limited, and that in the surroundings of daily life there are many things beyond the comprehension of finite beings.

In both nature and divine revelation God has given mysteries to command faith, so inability to comprehend the infinite power by which He reveals Himself gives no ground for refusing belief in Him. He is to be acknowledged as much from what He does not reveal of Himself as from what is open to limited comprehension. Searching, inquiring, and learning may continue forever, and yet there is an infinity still beyond.
