Leviathan Rises Breathing Fire From the Seaby emmanuel_higgins

Job 41:32

He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.

The chapter that holds this verse stands as proof that even minds of the greatest power cannot grasp the mysteries of God displayed in the natural world. Its searching questions were never meant to be solved by human answering. They were given to direct attention to the deep mysteries of God, to show that human wisdom is narrowly limited, and to teach that the common surroundings of daily life hold many things utterly beyond the comprehension of finite beings.

Both in divine revelation and in nature God has placed such mysteries for the very purpose of commanding faith. He is to be acknowledged as truly from what He withholds of Himself as from what lies open to limited human understanding. Those who doubt refuse to believe precisely because they cannot comprehend the infinite power by which He makes Himself known. Yet human beings may go on searching and inquiring and learning without end, and still an infinity lies beyond all they can attain.
