Job 5:14

They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope in the noonday as in the night.

It belongs to the speech Eliphaz addressed to Job. Its picture of running into darkness during daylight hours and having to feel one's way at midday as if it were night portrays the wicked as losing their path and falling into confusion. Like much said by Job's friends, it sets forth a principle true in general but misapplied to Job, since suffering does not prove a person is under God's displeasure.
