Job 5:24

And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.

The verse belongs to Eliphaz's speech as part of his assurances of protection from evil. It promises that the one corrected by God will know the home is secure and peaceful. On visiting to inspect the household and possessions, that person will find nothing missing or harmed.

It expresses God's ultimate care and has often proved true for his people. Its assurances were generally true but misapplied to Job, since suffering does not prove that a person is under God's displeasure. It should not be treated as a guarantee that the faithful will avoid affliction.

Because it is part of Eliphaz's statements about Job and God, it cannot be treated as reliable truth unless it is supported by inspired teaching elsewhere in Scripture. Its phrase about the tabernacle means the new earth, so it promises believers peace in their future dwelling. That promise encourages those enduring hardship to go forward in faith.
