Job 6:21

For now ye are nothing; ye see my casting down, and are afraid.

Job 6:21 belongs to Job's answer and reply to his friends while he suffers. They look upon his casting down and affliction and calamity and are afraid. Their counsel fails him in that condition, giving him no help and no comfort.

The chapter in which the verse stands justifies Job's complaints. His suffering belongs to God's discipline through affliction. His friends mistakenly charged that his suffering proved he had sinned and was under God's displeasure, but affliction does not prove this. Their claim to understand suffering from observation was misapplied in Job's case.
