Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both.
Job’s cry expresses the need for a mediator, a daysman who can stand between God and humanity and bring both together. Christ is that Daysman, the one who lays His hand upon both God and man, and the sinner’s only hope. Though holy and separate from sinners, He became fitted for this work by taking human nature upon Himself and becoming one of the human family. By retaining that human nature forever He binds humanity to Himself and assures us of God’s unchanging purpose of peace, so that in Him heaven and earth are united and humanity is brought near to God. Therefore people must know Him, confess and renounce their sins before Him, and through Jesus give themselves wholly to God.
