Job 9:6

Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.

Job 9:6 declares that God has power to shake the earth out of its place and make its pillars, foundations, and supports tremble. This power displays His sovereignty over nature. It shows Him wonderful and terrible in counsel.

The same power overturns and removes mountains before men know it and undoes and destroys the most firm and substantial things people have built. God can by His own power in a moment, in a short time, in one short hour dissolve the whole frame of nature, bring the whole natural scene to an end, and turn things upside down. Moving the earth out of its place and making its supports tremble is His act in anger and reproof, giving evidence of almighty power that must not be limited by cheap and common ideas.

The verse means that rulers who try to establish their authority by prudent measures against the holy Word of God only contribute to their own ruin, as Pharaohs and the kings of Babylon and of Israel did. Trying to arrest discord by fighting against God's Word brings down frightful danger, present disaster, and everlasting desolation.
