Joel Cries Out as Locusts Strip the Landby emmanuel_higgins

Joel 1:10

The field is wasted, the land mourneth; for the corn is wasted: the new wine is dried up, the oil languisheth.

Joel 1:10 pictures the earth laid waste under the plague of scorching heat when the sun scorches men with great heat. The field is wasted and the land mourns, with the corn wasted and the harvest failed. The new wine is dried up and the oil languishes, so that loss of harvest becomes complete desolation. The same ruin reaches to withering crops and trees, and joy itself disappears. This agricultural desolation portrays the fearful condition of the earth under the terrible final judgments that fall on the world before God's people are finally delivered.
