Joel Cries Out as Locusts Strip the Landby emmanuel_higgins

Joel 1:11

Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished.

The husbandmen are put to shame and the vinedressers are called to howl because the wheat and the barley are lost, and the harvest of the field has perished, leaving the land to mourn in crop failure and desolation. It is a prophecy of the condition of the world just before the second coming. That desolation belongs to the final judgments that fall before the deliverance of God's people. It depicts the devastation of the earth under the final plague, when the loss of the field's harvest brings grief to farmers and vinedressers while the sun scorches people with great heat.
