Joel 2:19
Yea, the LORD will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen: Yea, the LORD will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen:
Joel 2:19 records God's answer after the trumpet call to sanctify a fast and gather a solemn assembly, when the priests and ministers weep between the porch and the altar and the people plead for Him to spare them and not give them to reproach and heathen rule. In answering, the Lord shows Himself jealous and protective for His land and pitiful and compassionate toward His people. He sends His people corn or grain, wine, and oil as practical provision and restoration until they are fully satisfied.
He promises to end their disgrace among the nations so they will no more be a reproach among the heathen. The heathen will no longer rule over them and no longer ask where their God is, and their restoration will publicly end their disgrace. The promise is conditional on the people working with the Lord in His way rather than following their unsanctified desires. When judgments and calamities threaten those who continue to dishonor Him, whoever will may still escape by turning to Him, and those appointed must warn them to flee from the wrath to come.
