Joel 2:22
Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength. Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength.
The verse is a promise to those who heed the warning to flee from coming wrath by turning to God with fasting and weeping and mourning and prayer for mercy. After judgment the land is renewed so the beasts of the field need not be afraid, for God causes the pastures of the wilderness to spring again and the tree to bear her fruit, with the fig tree and the vine yielding their strength in abundance. It reveals the Lord as jealous for His land and pitying His people, sending corn and wine and oil so they are satisfied and are no more a reproach among the heathen.
It gives the land and the children of Zion reason to be glad and rejoice because the Lord will do great things, sending the former rain moderately with the former and latter rain, and filling the floors with wheat and the vats with wine and oil. He restores the years eaten by the locust and the cankerworm and the caterpillar and the palmerworm, giving plenty to eat so they praise the name of the Lord who has dealt wondrously with them and are never ashamed. It is a promise for those who love God to keep in mind, trusting Him and not the arm of flesh, showing that whosoever will may escape.
