Joel 2:25

And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

God will give back to His people the years that were devoured by the locust, the cankerworm, the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, which were His own great army sent among them in judgment. The loss to be restored is the work of those consuming pests, and the restoration is His personal act toward those who suffered under that chastening. This promise stands after warnings of judgments and calamities upon those who dishonor Him. Yet escape is held out to everyone who heeds the call to flee from the wrath to come. That way of escape is through a sanctified fast and a solemn assembly, with the ministers of God praying Him to spare His people and not to give them to reproach among the heathen.

When the Lord becomes jealous for His land and pities His people, He takes away their reproach. He then sends corn and wine and oil, with the former and the latter rain, and makes the land fruitful again. The floors are filled with wheat and the vats overflow with wine and oil, and His people eat in plenty and are satisfied. Satisfied, they praise His name for dealing wondrously with them, and they shall never be ashamed. Those who love God are to keep this promise continually before them, to trust Him, and not to lean on the arm of flesh.
