Scenes From the Book of Joelby KalebRosendahl

Joel 3:10

Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.

Joel 3:9-16 belongs to the time when God's wrath falls on persecutors. Those persecutors are the ones who enforce the mark of the beast against those who keep the Sabbath. At that time God's voice shakes the heavens and the earth. That shaking repeats His earlier shaking of the earth alone.

Those who turned away from what He spoke then confess their fatal error. They then realize the importance of the Sabbath as the seal of the living God. The verse is a call to prepare for battle and to take strength for the struggle. For God's people this means being roused to defend God's law and religious liberty against forces seeking to silence them and divide their work.

The verse teaches that the weak are made strong through trust in God. God can use people who do not seem richly endowed when they rely on Him to do what they cannot do for themselves. He accepts their whole-hearted service and supplies what they lack.
