John 2:12
After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days. After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.
After the wedding at Cana, Jesus went down to Capernaum with His mother, His brothers and relatives, and His disciples. His relatives were drawn to Him with warm affection and attachment and accompanied Him on that move. They continued there only a short time, not many days. That brief stay came immediately before the Jews' Passover, when He went up to Jerusalem, opening the events of the first cleansing of the temple.
The Passover drew large crowds to Jerusalem to worship and to obtain sacrificial offerings, and those offerings pointed to the one great Sacrifice. At Jerusalem the temple courts were filled with worshipers and with the buying and selling of sacrifices and the changing of money. On the journey to Jerusalem He joined a large company and mingled unnoticed while the people talked about the Messiah and hoped for national greatness. He knew that hope rested on a misunderstanding of Scripture, so He explained the prophecies and urged the people to study God's word more closely.
