John 2:23

Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.

At the Passover feast in Jerusalem Jesus performed miracles, healing the sick and helping the afflicted. Many in Jerusalem believed in His name when they saw the miracles He did, which gave evidence of His divine mission and drew attention to it. Nicodemus himself saw Him heal and help the afflicted and concluded that He was sent by God. Even with this belief Jesus did not entrust Himself to them, for He knew what was in people and watched those who sought grounds to accuse Him.

Reports of His miracles and of His cleansing of the temple were carried back to Galilee and prepared the way for His welcome there. Those who heard hoped His power marked Him as the promised Deliverer.

His miracle-working sets the pattern for health reform, whose object is to give life and health, to serve as medicine, and to cure and prevent sickness. Together with other Scriptures the verse supports the duty to obtain knowledge of the laws of health and to preserve physical powers in the best possible condition to render acceptable service to God, since refusing the light and knowledge mercifully placed within reach rejects one of the means God has granted to promote spiritual as well as physical life.
