Jonah 2:6
I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God. I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.
Jonah went down to the bottoms of the mountains, into the depths of the sea. There he felt shut in as if the earth with her bars was about him forever, holding him in death. Yet the Lord brought up his life from corruption, rescuing him from mortal danger in the pit, so that his deliverance came from God. That rescue revived his confidence in God's power to save and renewed his resolve to obey even at personal cost.
