Joshua 10:6
And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.
Following their treaty with Israel, the men of Gibeon sent to Joshua at the camp at Gilgal to appeal for help. Calling themselves his servants, they urgently asked him not to withhold his hand but to come up to them quickly to save them and help them. They appealed because all the kings of the Amorites who dwell in the mountains had gathered together against them in a coalition. Their danger also threatened Israel, because Gibeon controlled the passes into central and southern Palestine that had to be held to conquer the country.
