Joshua 11:16
So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same; So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same;
Joshua 11:16 is a summary statement of the extent of all the territory taken by Joshua in the conquest of Canaan. It stands within the account of the conquest of southern Canaan that followed the victory at Beth-horon. The northern campaign against the allied kings under the leadership of Jabin of Hazor closed with their defeat and the destruction of Hazor.
The conquest took place because the Lord God fought for Israel. After several years of war Joshua was master of Canaan, and the land rested from war. When the conquest was accomplished Joshua and all Israel returned to their camp at Gilgal.
