Joshua 11:21
And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities. And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities.
The Anakim were a race of giants. When Israel followed God, Joshua and the people were not afraid of them. In that faithfulness they defeated them and destroyed their cities. Joshua drove them from the hill country — from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah and of Israel — and destroyed them utterly with their cities. Some escaped to Gath, where Goliath later came from.
