Joshua 11:6
And the LORD said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire. And the LORD said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.
The Lord assured Joshua not to be afraid because of the northern Canaanite coalition, a large northern alliance gathered against Israel. He promised that by about the next day He would deliver all its forces slain before Israel, giving Israel victory over it on the morrow. He instructed Joshua to hamstring, or lame, their horses and burn their chariots with fire. This kept Israel from keeping or using the enemy's military equipment as its own resources, so that Israel would not trust in horses and chariots for victory in battle but would rely on God alone.
