Joshua 11:7

So Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly; and they fell upon them.

Joshua advanced with all his people of war and came suddenly upon the allied northern army encamped by the waters of Merom, falling upon them in a swift assault. The attack was direct and unexpected, with Joshua and his warriors moving together against the gathered host at that place. The Israelites routed a force much larger than their own, scattering the enemy before them.

That victory came because the Lord delivered the northern confederacy into their hands, giving Israel triumph over superior numbers. It was not human strength but divine surrender of the foe that decided the battle at Merom.
