Joshua Burns the Chariots at Meromby emmanuel_higgins

Joshua 11:9

And Joshua did unto them as the LORD bade him: he houghed their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.

Joshua 11 belongs to Israel's conquest of Canaan. The Lord fought for Israel, enabling Joshua to take the southern country and its kings, after which Joshua and all Israel with him returned to their camp at Gilgal. In obedience to God's command Joshua burned the Canaanites' chariots with fire and disabled their horses, rather than keeping them to strengthen Israel's own army. Israel was thus to trust in God rather than in horses and chariots for victory in battle.
