Joshua 12:8
In the mountains, and in the valleys, and in the plains, and in the springs, and in the wilderness, and in the south country; the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: In the mountains, and in the valleys, and in the plains, and in the springs, and in the wilderness, and in the south country; the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites:
Joshua 12:8 stands in the account in Joshua 11-21 of the conquest and the division and settling of the Promised Land among the tribes. It belongs to the list of the kings and places overcome in battle as Israel took possession of the land. Its listing of regions and peoples shows the extent of the land to be divided.
Together with that section it points to Israel's lack of faith and slowness in possessing the land. Yet the close of the section shows that God wrought all that He had promised and none of His good word failed.
