Joshua 13:28

This is the inheritance of the children of Gad after their families, the cities, and their villages.

Joshua 13:28 belongs to the account of Joshua dividing and distributing the land among Israel. That distribution spans Joshua 13 to 22, and as the first of the twelve historical books it records the history of the chosen people from their first occupation of the land of Canaan as a nation onward. Within that distribution the verse gives part of the allotment, accurately describing the inheritance of the children of Gad by families, cities, and villages from written documents. The work of dividing the land set the people on the way to possessing the land and finding the promised rest.
