Joshua 13:4
From the south, all the land of the Canaanites, and Mearah that is beside the Sidonians, unto Aphek, to the borders of the Amorites: From the south, all the land of the Canaanites, and Mearah that is beside the Sidonians, unto Aphek, to the borders of the Amorites:
The verse names portions of Canaan that Israel had not yet dispossessed, including land in the south still occupied by its enemies and the coastal district of Mearah held by the Sidonians, extending toward Aphek to the borders of the Amorites. It belongs to the apportioning of the land among the tribes while that territory was still unconquered, with each tribe made responsible for subduing its own allotted inheritance. The apportionment carried with it God's promise to drive out those remaining inhabitants if Israel remained faithful.
