Aged Joshua Surveys the Land Yet to Possessby emmanuel_higgins

Joshua 13:5

And the land of the Giblites, and all Lebanon, toward the sunrising, from Baal-gad under mount Hermon unto the entering into Hamath.

Joshua 13:5 belongs to the account of the territory still unsubdued when Joshua's military campaign came to its close. It names the land of the Giblites and all Lebanon toward the sunrise, from Baal-gad under Mount Hermon to the entrance of Hamath, among the boundaries of the country to be allotted to Israel. That allotment went forward even though the conquest was incomplete, with the land formally assigned before it was fully possessed. Lebanon itself, though thus included in the allotment, remained at that time in the possession of the Sidonians. Responsibility for completing the conquest fell upon each tribe within its own inheritance, to subdue what had been apportioned to it.
