Caleb Asks Joshua for the Hill Countryby emmanuel_higgins

Joshua 14:7

Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh-barnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.

Caleb was forty years old when Moses sent him from Kadesh-barnea to spy out Canaan. He brought back word again honestly as it was in his heart, reporting what he truly believed. He was one of only two spies to give a good report, urging Israel to enter the land in trust that God would give it to them. His report showed confidence in God's promise rather than fear of the land's challenges.

After the forty years of wandering he entered Canaan with Joshua, and his faithfulness was rewarded with the inheritance God had promised. At eighty-five he requested Hebron, the stronghold of the Anakim or giants, trusting God to help him take it, and he received and conquered it in God's strength.
