Joshua 14:8
Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God. Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God.
The brethren who went up with Caleb were his fellow spies, and their report discouraged Israel and made the heart of the people melt with fear. In contrast to them, Caleb wholly followed the Lord his God, remaining faithful and loyal to Him with his whole heart. That wholehearted following meant trusting God's promise to give the land despite the danger, looking above the apparent strength of Canaan's walled cities and warriors.
He showed that faithfulness by courageously urging Israel to go up and enter the land, and his words of confidence were proved true when he afterward entered the land to receive his inheritance. That inheritance was Hebron, which he claimed though the Anakim lived there. His loyalty despite the discouraging report stands as an example of what it means to follow the Lord fully and wholeheartedly.
