Joshua 15:38

And Dilean, and Mizpeh, and Joktheel,

Joshua 15:38 belongs to the written geographical record that accurately describes the allotted property in Israel's distribution of the land. It stands within the account of the conquering of the Canaanites and the division and settling of the Promised Land among the tribes, naming towns in the inheritance. In the order of the book that account of conquest and division comes after the lesson of Achan's sin and its consequences.

It lists Dilean as one of the eleven mountain cities assigned to the tribe of Judah. The surrounding division also exposes Israel's lack of faith and slowness to take possession of the land. Yet it closes with the assurance that God wrought all that He had promised and not one good thing failed.
