Joshua 15:40

And Cabbon, and Lahmam, and Kithlish,

Joshua 15:40 belongs to the account of the conquering of the Canaanites and the division and settling of Canaan, the Promised Land, among the tribes of Israel. Within that division it names one of the eleven mountain cities that fell by lot to the tribe of Judah. It lists towns in the distribution of the land, belonging to the larger division record in Joshua 13-22 which is a property record drawn from written documents that described the land accurately. In narrative order this division follows the sin of Achan and its fearful consequences and comes before Joshua's solemn charge to the people to serve God and Him alone. The settling shows Israel's lack of faith and slowness in possessing the land, within a record that ends with the assurance that God fulfilled every good thing He had promised.
