Joshua 15:45 stands in the account of the conquering of the Canaanites and the division and settling of the Promised Land among the tribes of Israel in Joshua 11-21. That division was led by Joshua after he brought Israel across the Jordan and set them on the way to conquer their foes and enter the promised rest.
Within that division, Ekron with her towns and her villages is one of eleven mountain cities that fell by lot to the tribe of Judah. The division narrative exposes Israel's lack of faith and slowness to possess the land. Yet it closes with the certainty that God wrought all He had promised and none of His good word failed.
