Joshua 15:49

And Dannah, and Kirjath-sannah, which is Debir,

Joshua is the first of the twelve historical books, recording the history of the chosen people from their first occupation of the land of Canaan as a nation to the return from the captivity. The book is named for its leading character Joshua, by whom part of it was written. The first twelve chapters show an eyewitness who took part in the events.

The verse stands in chapters 13 to 22, within the account in chapters 11 to 21 of the distribution, division, and settling of the Promised Land among the tribes. That section deals with the conquering of the Canaanites and the division of the land, and in narrative order comes after the lesson of Achan's sin and its consequences. It is based on written documents in which the property was accurately described. The verse lists Dannah and Kirjath-sannah, which is Debir, with Kirjath-sannah, which is Debir, being one of the eleven mountain cities that fell by lot to the tribe of Judah. That account of division and settling also shows Israel's lack of faith and slowness, yet it ends with the assurance that God wrought all that He had promised and none of His good words failed.
