Joshua 18:15 belongs to the account of the distribution of Canaan, a section founded on written documents that accurately described the land and its boundaries. It marks part of the southern boundary of the land assigned to Benjamin as his inheritance in Canaan. That boundary ran westward from the end of Kirjath-jearim to the well of waters of Nephtoah. Benjamin's territory lay within the large portion allotted to Judah and adjoined Judah's territory. Jerusalem was also in Benjamin's territory.
