Joshua 19:11

And their border went up toward the sea, and Maralah, and reached to Dabbasheth, and reached to the river that is before Jokneam;

The chapter belongs to the account of the distribution of Canaan, the Promised Land, among the tribes of Israel and of its dividing and settling by them. Within that account this verse gives part of the boundary of the territory allotted to Zebulun. The boundary it traces goes up toward the sea, by Maralah, and reaches to Dabbasheth and to the river that is before Jokneam. The term lot denotes an allotted portion, the land being divided and assigned by lot as determined by providence.

Zebulun's territory lay within Galilee, a region that also included the districts assigned to Asher, Naphtali, and Issachar. The country from Nazareth toward the Sea of Galilee belonged to Zebulun. These tribes did not fully possess their territories but settled among the Canaanites, sometimes making them tributary.
