Joshua 19:16

This is the inheritance of the children of Zebulun according to their families, these cities with their villages.

The listed cities with their villages formed the inheritance distributed by families to the children of Zebulun. This completed the allotment assigned to Zebulun within the geographical account of Israel's division of the land, which rested on records describing property accurately. A lot in this setting is a portion assigned as an inheritance, a division or fate determined by divine providence and not merely by chance. Zebulun's territory lay in Galilee, including the country from Nazareth toward the Sea of Galilee. The tribe did not take full possession of its territory but settled among the Canaanites, whom it at times made tributary.
