Joshua 19:30

Ummah also, and Aphek, and Rehob: twenty and two cities with their villages.

Joshua 19:30 belongs to the geographical record of the distribution of Canaan among the tribes of Israel. It stands within the account of dividing and settling the Promised Land, listing towns and their villages as assigned in that inheritance. The word lot illustrated here denotes a portion or division assigned to someone through allotting and distributing.

The verse names Ummah, Aphek, and Rehob among the cities assigned to the tribe of Asher. Together with their villages these made twenty-two cities in all. The surrounding list identifies the territory of Asher as including Accho, the ancient name of Acre. Asher's allotted region was part of Galilee, where the Israelites settled among the Canaanite population rather than taking full possession of their territory.
