According to the word of the Lord, Joshua was given the single city he asked for, Timnath-serah in Mount Ephraim, and he built the city and dwelt therein as his home. The name Timnath-serah means the portion that remains. He waited to claim his own inheritance until the other tribes had received theirs, not taking for himself until even the humblest among the people had been provided for. That city therefore stands as a testimony to his unselfish character.
