Joshua 2:6

But she had brought them up to the roof of the house, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof.

Rahab took the two Israelite spies up onto the roof of her house and concealed them beneath stalks of flax that she had spread out there in orderly rows. That hiding place kept them out of sight so that their presence would not become known. Secrecy was essential to their mission, for if discovered their opponents would have been warned and would have hardened their resistance against them. Rahab herself was a Canaanite who abandoned idolatry to worship the true God and was joined to God's chosen people. Her act of sheltering the spies stands as an illustration of God's purpose to draw people of other nations to Himself and to welcome them among His people.
