Joshua 2:7
And the men pursued after them the way to Jordan unto the fords: and as soon as they which pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate. And the men pursued after them the way to Jordan unto the fords: and as soon as they which pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate.
The pursuit toward the Jordan as far as the fords took place during a secret mission to search out the land. That secrecy was deliberate, so that opposing forces would not be warned of Israel's movements and strengthen themselves against Israel. The same flight of the pursuers and shutting of the gate belongs to the account of Rahab. She was a Canaanite who turned away from idolatry to worship the true God and was to join herself to God's chosen people.
