A Fugitive Runs to the City of Refugeby emmanuel_higgins

Joshua 20:3

That the slayer that killeth any person unawares and unwittingly may flee thither: and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood.

Under the Jewish dispensation this provision belongs to the account of the cities of refuge appointed for the slayer who killed unawares and unwittingly to flee to for refuge from the avenger of blood. The way to those cities was clearly defined, so that no one seeking safety need mistake the road. That plainly marked route to refuge illustrates that the way to happiness and life through obedience to the Creator is likewise clearly marked and open to all.
