Joshua 21:9

This verse stands within the account of the Levites receiving their cities from the allotments of the other tribes. Levi was given no separate territorial inheritance of its own, but instead received forty-eight cities scattered throughout the whole land. Simeon received only a small portion lying inside Judah's territory, and some families of Simeon afterward settled beyond the borders of the Holy Land.
